2nd Presentation EURODEUR 2007 - Marseille France

- La mesure du formaldéhyde dans l’air intérieur/extérieur avec l’appareil de Chromatotec: Airmo HCHO

1. Why measuring formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is part of the list of the COV ozone precursors as the substance listed by the Directive 2002 / 3 / CE and PAMS (US). Formaldehyde presents dangers for health, mainly by inhalation and by cutaneous contact in professional environment in indoor air. It can provoke irritations and the corrosion of mucous membranes and carcinogenic effects.
Toxicological Index: TWA: 0.5 ppm, STEL: 1 ppm
Various emission sources: paints, etc…

2. The Chromatotec Airmo HCHO analyzer
This instrument which detects and quantifies on-line formaldehyde uses a 6-port valve, a three phases trap, a metallic capillary column, a methanization oven and of a FID detector. It has a minimum detection level of as low as 0.5 ppb in ambient air.
Detection range: 0 - 100 ppb.
Carrier gas is nitrogen.
The Vistachrom software enables the user to view (histograms) and store data on the computer hard disk.
In option oven and permeation tube enable to auto calibrate the analyser.

3. Measurement results; examples of chromatograms
Different results are available:
HCHO in CO2 and N2
HCHO in indoor air
HCHO in ambient air
